Make A Difference Day is an annual volunteer event held every 4th Saturday of October. Over 1200 volunteers including groups, families, children, teens and adults are involved in several different volunteer projects through out McKinney and surrounding areas. This is a great opportunity for McKinney citizens to give back to their community. Recent projects have included landscaping, home repair projects, hosting a party for nursing homes residents, making tray favors for Meals on Wheels, food collection for the local food pantry and much more.

Roundup on the RangeRoundup on the Range, Volunteer McKinney Center’s only event fundraiser, is scheduled for Saturday October 18, 2008. Authentic cowboy cookin’ chuckwagon teams will compete over open fires at the 165-acre Myers Park and Event Center with their beef, beans, potatoes, biscuits and dessert creations. Families and friends will enjoy a fun-filled day of authentic Western cuisine, cowboy poetry and music, entertainment and activities for young and old alike as they meander through the barns, arenas, exhibit halls, and wide open spaces afforded by this spectacular venue. The proceeds allow Volunteer McKinney Center to continue their many programs.

The Volunteer Recognition Celebration is held each year during National Volunteer Week to celebrate volunteerism in our community. It is a time for all of us to honor the many volunteers that serve and make a difference at local agencies, organizations, schools, churches and the city.

Get Connected - Volunteers and those who work with volunteers can get connected through several networking programs available through the Volunteer McKinney Center. If you work directly with volunteers and would like to network with others that do the same, attend the monthly Coffee Table Talk. If you are in the leadership role at your organization, visit our monthly Leadership Lunch.

H.E.A.R.T.H. - (Hearts Energized And Ready To Help) is a new volunteer driven home rehab program that has been developed by the City of McKinney and Volunteer McKinney Center. The City of McKinney receives federal money for their Block Grant program to assist needy homeowners in their home repairs. Because of federal guidelines and limited funds, not all applications will be accepted. Volunteer McKinney Center will facilitate matching volunteer groups willing and able to help with all or some of the repairs. The projects will be listed on our online volunteer match program.
